What are the rewards of giving Zakat?

Firstly, Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Quran regarding those who give Zakat wealth. He states that they will have a great reward from Him. In addition to this, it is narrated by Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas (Radiallahu Anhu) and recorded in Mishkaat Shareef that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Whosoever eats my followers unjustly shall be made to possess fire”. The Sahaba inquired how this would take place; he replied, “He shall come on the day of Qiyaamah with his intestines hanging out. Hell-Fire shall be given to him” Then the Sahaba inquired. “What if he gives zakat?” He replied, “No, even if he gives all his wealth in Sadaqah (charity).”

Secondly, Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Quran regarding those who give Zakat wealth. He states that they will be blessed with suitable provisions. So for nothing is decreased in this world when Zakat is given to them. This blessing is due to His Mercy upon them, and therefore it can increase further. Than what they gave in Sadaqah (Charity) because of their excellent state with Him. It has also been recorded in Tafseer Ibn Katheer that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said. “Whoever gives me a Sadaqah (charity) it is as though he has given me a precious diamond. Yet, whoever gives me a gift without expecting anything in return for it will be rewarded by Allah Ta’ala with his sustenance increased manifold”.

Thirdly, Allah Ta’ala states that those who give Zakat wealth will remain under His Protection. They will be safeguarded from the various afflictions from which one suffers. In addition to this, He grants them tranquility of heart and satisfaction. It has been recorded in Tafseer Ibn Katheer regarding those. Who give Zakat on wealth that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said. I stand in prayer at night, and I am broken-hearted, for I see the Angels of Allah Ta’ala. Who write down the deeds which are to occur humanity. They {the Angels} tell me that there will be a lot of calamities and sorrows. Yet they make me happy by informing me that whoever has given Zakat on his wealth then he shall remain under my flag”.

States that those who give Zakat

Fourthly, Allah Ta’ala states that those who give Sadaqah (Charity) shall forgive their sins. In addition to this, he records a good deed in return for every Dinar and Dirham they spend. It is stated in Tafseer Mazhari Shareef regarding those who give Zakat that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said. “Whoever gives Sadaqah (charity) to me. shall be blessed with ten rewards”. Then he was asked, “O Messenger of Allah! Not only to you but even for other people?” He replied, “Yes, not only for me but even for others. For in my presence, even the thorn in the path would become a means of reward.”

After this, Hadith, Mishkaat Shareef, and Tafseer Mazhari. Whoever spends on his family shall be given ten rewards. Two for spending on one’s wife and six or seven on children depending upon whether they are mature or not. In addition, whoever gives a meal to a guest will be given ten rewards. If a traveler is fed, then he shall be rewarded twenty times. If a neighbor is fed, then thirty times. For his assistance towards Allah Ta’ala’s Deen, he will also receive the same reward for giving meals to an indigent. In addition to this, it has been stated in Mishkaat Shareef that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said. “Whoever helps another with regards to Sadaqah (charity) shall enter Jannah.”

In short, there are numerous blessings for those who give Zakat wealth. And even more, details have been mentioned in various Ahadith of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Allah Ta’ala states that those who give Sadaqah (Charity) will receive it ten times. As much and be blessed with various rewards.

Summry

It is stated in Tafseer Mazhari Shareef regarding the great virtue of giving Zakat on wealth. That Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Whoever gives me a charitable gift. It is as though he has given me a diamond. Yet, whoever gives without expecting anything in return for it will receive his sustenance multiplied manifold. I will stand up for him on Qiyaamah.”
